MONOLOGUE WRITTEN BY CLYDE LEWIS
Yesterday, my state reopened. We were one of the last to reopen and now just like that the fasten seat belt sign is off and we are free to move about the cabin.
It was a pseudo celebration of freedom as my local leaders got together at a soccer stadium and patted themselves son the back for a job well done against COVID-19.
For 16 months, fear of the spread of a pandemic forced nations all over the globe to curtail their citizens’ freedom of movement. The U.S. and its municipalities were no exceptions. To combat the virus, people were required to remain at home, to refrain from going to work or school, and to engage in the new process of social distancing. Never in American history has our freedoms been so restricted.
Even with the reopening of states across the nation, people still are remaining in their self-imposed prisons.
Reality has been shaken and people are now afraid to get back to the process of normality and enjoy what freedoms we have left – if any.
It is easy to forget, given the last 16 months, that people have been bitterly divided, and inhabiting mutually exclusive realities, and regarding people who don’t conform to their realities as enemies for the last five years. I’m not talking about political disagreements, or even socio-cultural differences. I’m talking about contradictory realities.
Things that actually happened or didn’t happen. Things that exist, or do not exist.
It appears that while conservative America is licking its wounds over a perceived stolen election and holding out for some miracle, Deus Ex Machina — Liberal America now values snobbery, censorship and the cancel culture.
I guess it is anyone’s argument what is worse for the country.
The United States has turned into a factory of consent, rather than a place where open minds shape the future. We are seeing tedious reports in the media where people have to ask for permission or apologize while expressing their views.
We are seeing not only an assault on freedom but an assault on ideas that need to pass through a filter by some unknown group that will immediately cancel something that they either misunderstand or don’t agree with.
This type of activity puts a target on every American.
A group of Americans, faceless and nameless phantoms are imposing on us a new reality in which facts no longer matter, where things that never happened officially happened, and other things that obviously happened never happened, not officially, or were “far-right extremist conspiracy theories,” “fake news,” or “disinformation,” or whatever, despite the fact that people knew that they weren’t.
It is a hard task to keep up and so many Americans choose to give up.
There are some that have the fight in them but that fight remains behind a key board where twitter and Facebook are a tool to shouty out that 1776 will return with leeches and all and yet, 2021 is still a grim reality warts and all.
People have been told that they are now free to take off their masks and get back to normal and yet they are stull wearing them and some businesses still require them — we are being told that America has reopened but now it appears that a lot of people are still frightened to exercise their rights.
They are afraid to get back to normal.
It is either that or they are afraid of reality– or that the punishment of no touch torture has crushed their spirit and has warped their reality.
I can’t speak for every one.
I can only observe and wonder what it is going to take to get people to wake up and fight for not only their freedom but their sense of reality.
Yes, America has taken a beating but we have to take responsibility for letting it happen and we can speak up against those who wish to allow it to continue.
Reality and Freedom are nebulous concepts.
You can’t take a picture of reality or freedom , you can’t hold it in your hands, you can’t smell it or taste it –it is something that you have to live through, and understand it psychologically.
It is like love — you know it when you feel it and sometimes it takes work to maintain it. Same goes for empathy –something that is in short supply today and something that we must nurture in order to survive into the future.
For most people, for most practical purposes freedom should be… well, our reality. It’s objective. Material. It actually exists. It exists independent of our beliefs and observations.
Freedom isn’t just an arbitrary, empty signifier that doesn’t actually refer to anything, but it is something which we use, strategically, to contain tyranny.
Freedom does not determine reality — but our reality must include freedom.
Freedom has become nothing more than a magic word rather than something put into practice– because many countries in the world believe that they are free not just Americans.
Canadian citizens have been told they are free. The Japanese think they are too. The very country that we escaped from to get our freedom, the U.K. things that they have freedom. So does France. Italy. Germany. Spain. Australia.
They all celebrate their freedom –there sometime in history they all declared independence form someone or something.
There are 207 sovereign states in the world, 180 of them all claim to be free.
Wow, they are all in for freedom but with the sudden push for the global plantation they will all be enslaved again by a proposed new normal — or a new order.
How sad really that no one is paying attention — the free country that we all claim to have is becoming freedom free and no one is the wiser because of that magic word that is used in name only and not in practice.
It is a freedom free world — and the globalist oligarchs think that you are going to love what they have planned for you.
I know that people don’t want to believe that a New World order is being imposed — but perhaps a demonstration in civics can reveal that we are certainly seeing acts of despotism that muddy the waters of freedom.
Imagine that you are the Founding Father of an immensely powerful, globally hegemonic ideological system, and you wanted to impose your ideology on as much of the entire world as possible, but you didn’t have an ideology per se, or any actual values at all, because exchange value was your only real value, and so your mission was to erase all ideologies, and values, and truths, and belief systems, and so on, and transform everything and everyone in existence into de facto commodities that you could manipulate any way you wanted, because they had no inherent value whatsoever, because their only real value was assigned by the market.
How would you go about doing that, erasing all existing values, religious, cultural, and social values, and rendering everything a valueless commodity?
You would alter the realities of those who you wish to target and call it normal and use the magic word freedom to get them to overlook the idea that what you are selling is tyranny.
Naturally, there would be one official reality that you would force everyone to rigidly conform to at any given moment in time, but you would change the official reality frequently, and force everyone to conform to the new one and pretend that they’d never conformed to the old one, and then, once they had settled into that one, you would change the official reality again, until people’s brains just shut down completely, and they gave up trying to make sense of anything, and just tried to figure out what you wanted them to believe on any given day.
You would say — this is freedom not oppression — freedom, freedom and more freedom and the cherry on the top of it all would be freedom.
Are you getting it yet?
If you repeated that process long enough, eventually, nothing would mean anything anymore, because everything could potentially mean anything … at which point, you could basically tell people anything you wanted and they would go along with it, because what the hell difference would it make?
This has been a long 16 months of lockdowns, no touch torture, distancing, mandatory mask wearing and now in some cases forced vaccinations.
But hey your freedom is just a state of mind, right? Freedom, freedom and more of that good old American freedom.
As Independence Day rolls around, I find myself looking at the whole freedom thing differently than in years past. I still celebrate what little freedom that I have but we’re watching it disappear at a such rapid pace.
Somehow, neighbor has turned against neighbor, brother against brother, and Americans are turning against their own country.
No longer do we have the sense of patriotism we once did. No longer do we know that the country will pull together to fight against threats. No longer do we have any illusions that people in government are actually working for us.
We are now becoming fully aware of the ponerism that exists in politics and how the subtlety of evil is rearing its head and that there is also wide open treachery in the ranks of the political elite.
They are there to work for themselves, line their own pockets, and increase their own power.
When I decided to do my radio show I knew there would come a time where I would put my lively hood at risk just for telling the truth. I knew that eventually preaching freedom would not be free and information that reveled truths would not come free either.
I knew that eventually it would become a casualty of psychological warfare.
But I have to confess — I never imagined that when it happened, there would be a vocal minority with enough power to censor and silence those without someone putting up a fight.
I thought that the United States had that fight in them.
However, I never counted on a mass pandemic that would be used to beat down people into submission and forced them into house arrest.
I really wonder if people know just how detrimental this was to our cherished freedoms and how it has beaten us up psychologically.
That is why I hope when we celebrate our Independence Day we ponder what is happening to America and how it has become Freedom Free.
It is now free of its freedom — it is chained down to an invisible plank. We are in a virtual prison without barbed wire or concrete blocks.
And I ask — do people even care about this anymore?
Yes, my sour cynicism has been hardened in what I see — it is because of what I have reported and how we always do the same thing every four years expecting a different result.
How we are afraid to speak out against corporate censorship and the cancel culture.
The Constitution grants us the freedom of speech — but tot does not give us freedom of reach.
The power of those who wish to silence the patriots will not let Freedom reach.
So I say that rather than let freedom ring, we should demand that freedom should reach.
Let freedom reach!
The Fourth of July, or Independence Day, as it has come to be known, is perhaps the most and the least American of holidays. It is the most American because it marks the beginning of the nation, because it rapidly became an occasion for expressing what America is all about, and because it is locally and voluntarily observed it becomes a day set aside to spread nationalism.
Yes, Nationalism – the word that is now being acquainted out of context with Fascism.
It is good for all of us to be reminded of the ideals America was born to embody, of the fact that it could stand to embody them more fully, of the fact that all these ideals can be embodied at the same time, and of the simple reality that America is not itself an ideal but a real nation with real people that need to borrow from the well of national memory in order to become united again.
It would be good to remember, as well, that our country has made it through moments of much deeper division than this one — in the lifetimes of many Americans, let alone in the span of our national memory.
In order to maintain independence in this country we need to acknowledge how dependent we have become– and how we are now a Freedom free America.
It is time that Americans learn what we are up against and how we have allowed tyranny in the door — we can push it out . and it will take time and patience, but keep in mind that those who are now taking our freedoms away were patient and were waiting for the most opportunistic time to do so.
Out of fear, Americans have surrendered a lot of what many people before them fought for.
Americans who support individual liberty, national independence, free markets, the Constitution, and other traditional U.S. values ought to study what the New World Order means to the globalist planners. You should also analyze the words of George Herbert Walker Bush, Zbigniew Brzezinski and Henry Kissinger carefully.
You should acknowledge the plan for the fourth industrial revolution that is a thin disguise for what can be seen as a fourth Reich enterprise.
You should also learn the truth about the Green Economy, Agenda 21, the 2030 Summit and the political plans they have for all of us in order to develop a controlled population for sustainability on the planet.
The “New World Order” and the “regions” globalists are not pushing a new idea, and for the overwhelming majority of humanity, the historical attempts of establishing a world order have been met with disaster.
What makes America exceptional is that it was founded on principles that guide our public life and yet will always be something we can aspire to.
There is no harm in joining together the conservative and progressive forms of patriotism —because what it suggests is that progress toward justice involves vindicating rather than repudiating our founding principles.
We shouldn’t forget this and we should always know what our founding principles mean to us – and not conveniently cherry pick amendments of the Constitution that need to be excised or adhered to, based on cognitive bias.
Visions of patriotism taken from our common national memory could be the answer to the riddle of how we can unify again. I know it won’t make our differences go away, but rather to allow us better to live with them and so with each other.
We always talk about the good old days and how things were – well, we can draw from that age-old patriotic unity that within our differences we remained United in the idea that we as Americans are quite a unique breed.
It could help counteract our tendency to think of our political opponents as speaking from outside the American tradition.
We need to stop seeing differences of opinion as a threat when they should be seen as a reason for citizens to be engaged.
A love of country rooted in national memory would give us the opportunity to draw some good out of the ways in which we are now divided over patriotism.
Yes, the faces of Americans have changed over the years.
Young and not-so-young men with their necks, arms and calves covered in tattoos, next to elderly ladies, lesbian and gay couples, family groups with children.
Women with strollers, some with sheer t-shirts and shorts, dogs, old and young hippie types, punks with their leather and Mohawks, small and large organized groups from different parts of the country wearing identical t-shirts and bearing banners that say Black Lives Matter, or Gay Pride.
Like it or not this is America now — it is neither good or bad, it is just in transition.
It is the Summer of Transition and it obviously will be full of some not so welcome surprises.
However, creating political adversaries within our birder is no way a healthy transition and force feeding people with emotional blackmail accomplishes nothing in the objective of preserving and loving our unique and precious freedoms.
Nietzsche called it, Herd Morality, and how those in power, can emotional black mail and gaslight people into becoming willing slaves and can easily be seduced by fear.
We must identify this and speak out about it — elect officials that also speak out against the dark side of Herd Morality and are willing to speak truth to power and that freedom has its risks but that is what makes us who we are — we are willing to take risks in order to maintain freedom in this country.
America must continue to exist and likewise, so should our freedom.
We should respect our existence — or face resistance.
