Michael C. Ruppert is the author of two books, lecturer and experienced investigative journalist. His first book, “Crossing the Rubicon: The Decline of the American Empire at the End of the Age of Oil” is in the Harvard Business School library. He is also the sole subject of a recent critically-acclaimed documentary named “Collapse” which has received stellar reviews from the NY Times, Variety, The Wall Street Journal, Entertainment Weekly, USA Today, TIME Magazine and film critic Roger Ebert. That film, and its companion book, “Confronting Collapse: The Crisis of Energy and Money in a Post Peak Oil World” now have a global fan base with the film having been pirated more than two million times since its release in September, 2009
Michael is a former LAPD officer and honors graduate of UCLA with experience in detectives and narcotics. He began his career as a journalist and author after discovering that the CIA was smuggling drugs into the country in the late 1970s. From his former newsletter “From the Wilderness” he wrote and published major exposés of criminal activity in the U.S. government and the U.S. economy. He also predicted, in great detail, the economic collapse of 2008 and almost all of what we see happening in the world today. Many of the newer predictions he made in “Collapse” (the movie) have already come true. He says now that we – the human race collectively – have reached an event horizon of total systemic collapse of human industrial civilization. Nothing can be done to prevent it and the only thing we can do is prepare.
Recently Michael has been prominently featured in a big-budget two-hour History Channel special, “Prophets of Doom”, and is currently involved in several film projects. He also has a weekly radio show on The Progressive Radio Network every Sunday from 9-10 PM (Eastern) called The Lifeboat Hour featuring a wide spectrum of prominent guests.
His life is dedicated to saving as many lives as possible and seeing that a new human paradigm, based upon a radical shift in human consciousness away from an infinite-growth economic paradigm emerges from the rubble. He is currently the Founder and CEO of Collapsenet.
