For years we have lived in a post-crime society and as we venture into 2017, it will become evident that the post-crime society will still exist, however, it will be the pre-crime society that is ideologically terrifying and very real. In 2017, security will become less about reacting to, controlling or prosecuting crime than addressing the conditions that precede it. The logic of security dictates earlier and earlier interventions to reduce opportunity — we have heard that this is why we need and are implementing a more advanced surveillance apparatus.
